About ImpairMaster
ImpairMaster began as a high school science project inspired by the tedious process of using the 1977 AMA’s Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment. With the help of my father, Dr. Stanley Kaplan, I developed the first version of what would become an award-winning tool, revolutionizing and simplifying the process of creating impairment rating reports.
A Tribute to Dr. Stanley Kaplan
ImpairMaster is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Stanley Kaplan, a pioneering chiropractor and my father. His passion for impairment rating began in the 1970s, leading to his contributions to the 1984 2nd Edition of the AMA Guides and a position on the Florida Workers’ Compensation advisory board. His impairment rating seminars were attended by thousands of doctors, and he continued to to teach until his passing in 2016. His work and mentorship laid the foundation for our software, and his spirit of innovation and humor continues to inspire us.
Technical Evolution
From its humble beginnings on a Radio Shack Model I microcomputer, ImpairMaster has evolved through numerous programming languages and platforms. Today, it leverages modern technologies like TypeScript, Svelte, and Java to deliver an easy-to-use cloud-based experience.
Meet the Developer
I'm Gerry Kaplan, Dr. Stanley Kaplan's son and the developer behind ImpairMaster. With a career spanning from the era of punch cards to modern web development, I am dedicated to advancing ImpairMaster in honor of my father's legacy. When I'm not coding, I enjoy my passion for flying, model railroading, restoring IBM Selectric typewriters, and woodworking.
